OVERVIEW – The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a financial inclusion initiative launched by the Government of India in August 2014. To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), you can follow these steps:
- Visit a Bank/Branch: Approach any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitr) outlet near you.
- Application Form: Ask for the PMJDY account opening form. Fill out the form with accurate details. Make sure to provide all the necessary documents.
- Documents Required: You will typically need to provide identity proof (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, etc.), address proof (utility bills, rent agreement, etc.), and a passport-size photograph. The specific requirements may vary from bank to bank.
- Submit the Form: Once you have filled out the form and gathered the required documents, submit them to the bank representative.
- Biometric Verification: In many cases, biometric verification (fingerprint and/or iris scan) might be required for authentication purposes. This is usually done at the bank branch or through a Business Correspondent.
- Receive Account Details: After the verification process is complete, you will be provided with your PMJDY account details, including your account number and other relevant information.
- Get Rupay Debit Card: Additionally, you will receive a Rupay debit card linked to your PMJDY account, which can be used for transactions at ATMs and for purchases at merchant establishments.
